Q-Free product manager receives Mentor Award from ITE Western District

Director of Product Management Patrick Marnell recognized for his exceptional support and guidance to young industry professionals

We are thrilled to announce that Patrick Marnell, Director of Product Management for Q-Free’s ATMS division, has been honored with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Western District Mentor Award. This prestigious award recognizes professionals who provide exceptional support and guidance to young professionals in technical training, ITE activity, and professional development.

Contributions to ITE and the Engineering Community

Patrick’s commitment to ITE is unparalleled. He has played a significant role in making the ITE Oregon Section a vibrant organization and is now leaving his mark on the Western District as he continues his rotation on the District Board. He has helped several young engineers at Q-Free prepare for their PE exams and apply for their PE licenses, providing unique and effective guidance in transportation engineering and project management practices.

Technical Training and Event Leadership

Patrick’s passion for ITE extends to his involvement in organizing and leading events. He led the organization of the 2018 ITE QUAD Conference hosted by the ITE Oregon Section and often serves as the emcee for ITE Oregon’s Traffic Bowl, a Jeopardy-style traffic quiz for students.

His engaging presentation style, combined with a professional and educational focus, makes him a sought-after presenter at various events.

Service to the ITS Community

As a current Fellow of ITE and the Western District’s Vice President (2024), Patrick’s influence extends beyond mentorship. He has actively promoted ITE engagement among transportation engineers and planners, encouraging participation in upcoming conferences and events. Patrick’s efforts have not only strengthened Q-Free’s presence within the ITE community but have also fostered a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
