Technology leader brings global SaaS experience to Q-Free as company advances its next phase of innovation and growth.

Q-Free, a global leader in mobility solutions for smart city infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Fredrik Thysenius as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Thysenius will lead Q-Free’s global engineering organization, define the company’s global technology strategy, and strengthen collaboration across its technology teams and divisions.

An engineer by training, Thysenius began his career in software development and system architecture before progressing through research and development, engineering leadership, and CTO roles. Most recently, he spent 15 years with Benify and Benifex, a global software-as-a-service (SaaS) company, where he helped scale the business from $2 million to $80 million in annual recurring revenue. “Fredrik brings exactly the technical depth, international experience, and leadership perspective we need as Q-Free continues to grow as a global software and technology company,” said Mark Talbot, CEO of Q-Free. “His focus on building strong teams, creating effective ways of working, and delivering solutions that customers value makes him a great fit for Q-Free. We are excited to have him on board.”

Thysenius said Q-Free’s combination of technology, infrastructure, data, and long-standing customer relationships was a key factor in his decision to join the company. “Q-Free has a strong foundation, great products, and customers who value what the company delivers,” said Thysenius. “I see a significant opportunity to build on that foundation by connecting our expertise across geographies, focusing our engineering resources on the highest priorities, and making it easier to bring great solutions to more customers around the world.” He will begin by traveling to Q-Free locations globally to learn the company’s products and understand the expertise and history that have shaped its business. “I plan to do a lot of listening and learn everything I can about our people and our solutions,” said Thysenius. “Q-Free has a long history and an incredible amount of expertise across its teams. My goal is to build on that strength and find the opportunities where we can become even stronger together.”

Thysenius also sees artificial intelligence (AI) as an important part of the company’s technology future, both in how products are developed and how AI capabilities can be incorporated into Q-Free’s solutions. “AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how we build and deliver technology,” Thysenius said. “But it also needs the right governance, structure, and controls. The opportunity is to combine AI with Q-Free’s infrastructure and data to create solutions that deliver real value for customers.”

While his position will be global, Thysenius’ home-base is in Sweden.
