Increasing Efficiencies in Traffic Signal Operations Amid COVID-19
by Whitney Nottage, Q- Free
COVID-19 has had a drastic impact on travel and road usage patterns, yet surveys estimate that more than half of traffic signal agencies have not modified their traffic signal timing strategies. Join us as we discuss the impact of COVID-19 on our signal systems, how transportation systems have changed, and what agencies are doing to adjust to these changes. Our discussion will include data and case studies from leading state and local DOT’s to show how they’re using central and local software to keep traffic moving optimally during the pandemic.
In short, attendees will learn about the impact of COVID-19 on our road network and how agencies are leveraging their local and central traffic management software to keep traffic moving.

Creating a Safe & Secure Multi-Vendor, Traffic Ecosystem
by Mike Clance, Q Free
Today’s traffic signal ecosystem is filled with more ITS devices than ever to safely operate an intersection, coordinate with nearby signals, integrate with connected or automated vehicles, and produce valuable data-based insights. To fully leverage the advanced functionality of all devices, it’s important to create an open environment where ITS devices can communicate with one another. This webinar will address the need for sharing communication protocols for agencies to best serve their communities using their chosen ITS devices – specifically addressing why this does not jeopardize safety and security. We’ll discuss security tips and strategies such as secure transport protocols, user access controls, and API authentication for deploying multi-vendor solutions and touch on the necessary evolution of transportation security in an increasingly connected world.
