Q-Free launches Dynamic CV connected vehicle module for its Dynamic software

Dynamic CV combines connected vehicle functionality with modern cybersecurity protections to help both agencies and drivers manage intersections.

Q-Free, a global leader in mobility solutions for smart city infrastructure today announced the launch of Dynamic CV, the connected vehicle (CV) software module for Q-Free’s cybersecurity-first Dynamic Software. Designed to help transportation agencies secure connected intersection technology in an increasingly complex threat landscape, Dynamic CV brings encrypted and authenticated communications to connected vehicle operations at the edge.

Built for secure, edge-based operations, Dynamic CV processes complex connected vehicle applications directly on the controller using an encrypted API – helping agencies simplify deployments and reduce system complexity. By operating without dependence on a central system, Dynamic CV supports critical safety and mobility applications for agencies and drivers while reducing exposure to evolving cyber threats.

“Transportation agencies are operating in an increasingly challenging cyber threat and privacy landscape, where securing connected infrastructure is more important than ever,” said Mark Talbot, CEO of Q-Free. “Dynamic CV reflects Q-Free’s ongoing commitment to helping agencies protect their systems from evolving cybersecurity threats while enabling the next generation of connected mobility.”

As agencies expand connected infrastructure deployments, Dynamic CV provides a modern, security-first approach to managing real-time traffic signal and vehicle communications. The software securely exchanges key connected vehicle data, including Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT), MAP intersection geometry, Signal Status Messages (SSM), and Traveler Information Messages (TIM), all while also processing incoming vehicle requests, data, and safety messages in real time. Dynamic CV supports a wide range of advanced traffic management applications, including emergency vehicle preemption, transit signal priority, dilemma zone protection, red light runner detection, and enhanced pedestrian and bicycle services. It also enables time-to-green and suggested speed applications that improve traffic flow and driver awareness.

“Connected vehicle technology is transforming how agencies improve safety and mobility, but those systems must be secure from the ground up,” said Whitney Nottage, P.E., PTOE, EVP of Traffic Management at Q-Free. “Dynamic CV delivers the cybersecurity protections and edge-based intelligence agencies need to confidently deploy connected vehicle applications today and into the future.”
