Responsibilities

  • Design, create prototypes, construct and assemble mechanical components for electronic parts of Advanced Traffic Control (ATC) products: traffic signal controllers, traffic control cabinets, traffic cabinet testers. This includes building sheet metal prototypes.
  • Program, operate and maintain Omax 55100 Jet Machining Center, Trotec Speedy 300 Laser Engraver, wire stripping and brake press.
  • Draft drawings, 2D and 3D models with sheet metal fabrication design to build prototypes, test and validate the prototypes for ATC products per NEMA standards.
  • Design wire harness and cable design by creating models and drawings for the manufacturing and assembly of company products.
  • Create production documentation for metal fabrication, wire harness/cable fabrication, silkscreen / laser artwork, Bills of Materials and other documentation required for manufacturing and support of traffic controllers, cabinets and components.
  • Provide onsite repairs, maintenance, and commissioning of the ATC products (traffic controllers and traffic control cabinets).
  • Responsible for maintaining mechanical and wiring harness part numbers and creation of the serial numbers and part labels.
  • Prepare plans and reports for development and design of traffic controllers and traffic control cabinets. Assess and report potential issues that may arise during prototype and production.
  • Monitor the stock of equipment, spare parts and raw materials for ATC production. Provide the Procurement Specialist or the Director with reports on the needs for procurement of the same.
  • Assist in fabrication and assembly of customization of products which include traffic controllers, cabinets, brackets, cable assemblies, as required for specific work orders.
  • Assist the Lead Cabinet Engineering Technician and Director in new product designs and commissioning.
  • Maintain and update drawings and CAD of traffic controllers and traffic control cabinets in accordance with engineering changes (e.g., alternative parts, obsolete parts, new stencil, improve/simplify assembly, fix a design flaw, US manufacturing, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain the “Gold Standard” or production release mechanical drawings and CAD files and Bills Of Materials throughout the ATC product life cycle.
  • Provide engineering support in solving production manufacturing issues/questions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and two (2) years of experience in

  • Using Omax 55100 Waterjet Machine;
  • Using Trotec Speedy 300 Laser Etcher;
  • Using Amada machinery (lamination folding and die-casting);
  • Using Speed Buffer;
  • Using Press Brake Machine;
  • Building mechanical prototypes for Advanced Traffic Control (ATC) products: Traffic Control
  • Cabinets, Traffic Signal Controllers, Traffic Cabinet Testers;
  • Providing support in manufacturing of ATC products;
  • Designing new and redesigning ATC products.
