Q-Free’s headquarters is in Trondheim, Norway’s Silicon Valley and home to the country’s major technical University, Scandinavia’s largest scientific research corporation Sintef and myriad small and growing technology start-ups and companies. The company’s Oslo office serves the company’s many customers in the south of the country.
The corporate headquarters performs leading-edge technology research and development in close co-operation with the company’s market intelligence team and with the help and support of a network of local companies that specialize in non-core technologies and services.
The research and development is aimed at anticipating and satisfying market needs with the delivery of new technologies and processes that allow customers to focus on core competences. Also located in Trondheim, the project engineering group develops tailored solutions for each tolling and ticketing project and a core team of maintenance and service professionals keeps the numerous installations running flawlessly, either through direct monitoring and intervention or through training local staff and partners.
Nationally, Q-Free has supplied all the equipment for Norway’s nationwide tolling system AutoPASS and all of the On-Board Units (OBUs) to the 1.3 million participating vehicles. The company also runs the computer system that links together all of the Norwegian operators in a seamless, country-wide tolling system.
